Visit to Massachusetts UAS Test Center - Operations and Research

Approximately 60 people participated in AUVSI New England’s Lunch 'N' Learn visit to Avwatch. The event was organized to be predominantly informal with a focus on networking with access granted to Avwatch’s facilities, hangers, and aircraft.

The event started with an overview of the Massachusetts Unmanned Aircraft Systems Test Center (MA UASTC), which is part of one of the six granted FAA UAS Test Sites. Massachusetts together with New York have a UAS Test Site, known as Northeast UAS Airspace Integration Research (NUAIR) Alliance, headquartered at Griffiss International Airport in Rome, NY. The MA UASTC is the responsibility of MassDevelopment.

Avwatch described some of their research into aerial high bandwidth mesh networking, and the provision of platforms and pilots to test sensor, and communications payloads.
