I am honored to be elected as your AUVSI New Chapter President. As you know the New England region is a hotbed of innovation in the unmanned vehicle and robotic systems space. We are now becoming known not just for technology but for sorely needed capabilities. The Chapter and its volunteers are working to help grow the industry by promoting unmanned and robotic system benefits and by working with the legislature to understand issues and reduce regulatory constraints. The NUAIR Alliance (FAA UAS Test Site) has hired Major General Marke F. “Hoot” Gibson (ret) as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Gibson most recently served as Senior Advisor on Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Integration to the Deputy Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). He began on November 13 and will oversee the organization’s efforts to safety integrate UAS into the National Airspace System (NAS). Gibson will lead NUAIR’s oversight of UAS testing being conducted in New York, Massachusetts and Michigan and a $30 million investment by New York State to build a 50-mile UTM Corridor and put…

Letter from the President August 21, 2017 Once again, summer has rolled by fast this year for the Directors and staff of AUVSI New England. Robotica 2017 seems like the very recent past, but the calendar belies the truth of 60+ days gone by. At the July 2017 Board of Directors meeting, the chapter welcomed two new Directors and made formal the appointment of a new Executive Committee. Robert O'Malley, Business Director with iXBlue (Natick, MA), and Jeffrey DeCarlo, Massachusetts Dept of Transportation - Aviation Administrator, both joined the board for three year terms. Both members come to the board as long term members of the association and represent distinctive market sectors that are at the core of the AUVSI New England's focus. New England chapter had its annual member meeting hosted at WPI in Worcester. Waseem Naqvi, President, AUVSI New England, discussed the status and progress of the chapters activities on behalf of its members. Jeff Adams, Secretary, and Peter Wurman, Director and Chair of the Nomination committee, described the recent chnage in by-laws and the results of the election for the members of the Board of Directors. The 2017 AUVSI New England election resulted in 8 members of the Board of Directors beginning a three year term of service. These members included 6 returning members and 2 new members. For details…
AUVSI New England is honored to announce that it was selected as Chapter of the Year from the 36 AUVSI chapters internationally. Brian Wynne, President and CEO, AUVSI presented the award to Waseem Naqvi, President AUVSI New England at XPONENTIAL in Dallas. Brian also thanked Waseem for serving on the AUVSI Board of Directors representing all 36 US and international chapters.
