AUTONODYNE is a Boston-based AI software company. They got their start in aviation but have since branched out into other domains (air, sea, land) to use their software to move one, a few, or many dissimilar vehicles in multiple domains autonomously.  Autonodyne spends most of its time and energy in Human-Machine Teaming and its two main contributors - User Interface/User Experience and Algorithm-driven Autonomy. They apply this to capabilities such as Manned-Unmanned Teaming (MUM-T), Multi-ship operations, and Multi-Domain operations.

Why is the BEAVER WORKS SUMMER INSTITUTE (BWSI) unique? We are teaching students technology not yet in textbooks!  The MIT Lincoln Laboratory Beaver Works Summer Institute is a rigorous program for talented high school students, features a 4-week long on campus programs for project-based workshop style courses. Some course examples include: Autonomous RACECAR, UAV Racing, and Cognitive Assistant. The program started in 2016 and significantly expanded in subsequent years and offering 13 courses during the Summer of 2023.  In addition, BWSI offers Spring (9th and 10th graders) and Fall (10th and 11th grade female students) outreach programs (virtual, 8 Saturdays, 3 hours each( and National Challenges during the school year. BWSI is also assisting other universities and high schools to create similar programs, in the USA and internationally.

COMMARIS™, a brand of Flogistix, LP, delivers uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) for commercial operations in oil & gas, power, mapping, agriculture, security, and more. Its flagship UAV, the SEEKER, is a battery-electric, fixed-wing/VTOL hybrid that provides long flight times with ultra-low noise output, fast and precise vertical takeoff and landing, and dual-GPS systems with automated route planning. The SEEKER is customizable with a variety of modular payload options, such as EO/IR cameras for inspection, high-resolution cameras for terrain mapping, multispectral cameras for precision agriculture analysis, LiDAR units, methane sensors, or corona discharge sensors. Commaris is headquartered in Woburn, MA, and has a testing and training center in Las Vegas, NV.

HEADWALL PHOTONICS designs and manufactures hyperspectral imaging systems, software, and application-focused solutions for remote sensing and machine vision. We were the first to offer an integrated turnkey package that includes a hyperspectral and LiDAR payload including lightweight UAV to acquire imaging data across the electromagnetic spectrum. Our history since 2003 is of an innovator and reliable partner for both end-use customers and instrument makers who need compact, high-performance OEM optical components and assemblies for their high-volume products.

The MASSDOT AERONAUTICS ADVANCED AVIATION GROUP uses Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS, or “drones”) to further the work of MassDOT and the MBTA across the Commonwealth. The MassDOT Aeronautics Advanced Aviation Technologies Group is guiding the adoption of drone technology within MassDOT and the MBTA in a manner that is safe, cost-effective, and secure. In addition, they are incentivizing applied research across Massachusetts for economic development and to integrate drones into the National Airspace System.

MATRIXSPACE is re-imagining radar. We are addressing the next generation of AI-enabled sensing so that objects can be identified and data collected in real-time - no cloud required. We’re building the smallest networked radar system to provide new levels of integrated outdoor surveillance in 4D at a cost that makes it accessible to a broad range of public and private enterprises.

MERLIN is a growth stage autonomy startup, building the world’s most experienced pilot. The company’s technology enables our customers to operate with reduced crew on existing platforms while enabling uncrewed operations on future platforms. Primarily backed by Google Ventures, Merlin is dedicating $150M in research dollars to autonomy for civilian and defense mobility missions. Merlin announced in 2022 that they were selected by Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) to enable single pilot operations on the C-130 via autonomy. The company is based in Boston, with offices in Denver, Los Angeles, and Auckland (NZ). The company maintains a dedicated flight test facility in the Mojave desert, adjacent to Edwards Air Force Base.

NDIA NEW ENGLAND STEM Connections is an initiative of the NDIA New England Chapter focused on encouraging high school students to explore STEM career opportunities. By participating in the New England UAS and AAM Summit, STEM students will be exposed to Speakers and Members from the USG, Industry, and Academia in the UAS and AAM product space; and provide USG, Industry, and Academia a platform to mentor students interested in STEM. Lastly, STEM students will also be provided the opportunity to showcase and provide briefings to Summit attendees on the UAS projects they are working on in high school. AUVSI New England is pleased to work with NDIA NE on this initiative, enabling local high students to meet and interact with attendees at this year's summit.

ZARGES, a 90-year-old company, manufactures aluminum UN-certified, IATA, 49CFR, and IMDG-compliant shipping and storage cases which can be used for Li Ion batteries in all stages of battery life. Design methods allow for OEM custom case sizing to protect UAVs, AUVs etc., as well as customized inner packaging configurations for one or more batteries. They also have over (50) case sizes to be used for many commercial and military applications.
