What a journey 2020 has been so far!

As part of the global response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the economy was “shut-down”, we have all been locked down and practicing social/physical distancing. Now we all must wear masks to prevent asymptomatic contamination. We have started to open up the economy, noting that we may experience a second wave of the virus. AUVSI New England members are naturally social and enjoy getting together to discuss important topics. For the time being, we are all having to engage virtually.

We have prepared a number of activities for the next few weeks and months. These include:

  • Unmanned Insight, September 24th, virtual:
We’ve all seen those massive oil/gas storage tanks. Have you ever wondered what condition they are in? Square robot will discuss how, without emptying the tanks, they can perform autonomous vehicle inspection of them.
Registration details are at the website  http://www.auvsinewengland.org/component/djevents/details/2020-09-24/91-autonomous-vehicles-for-oil-tank-inspections.html
  • Annual Members Meeting, September 24th, Virtual:
For an opportunity to meet the Chapter leadership, learn about latest innovations, and meet the newly elected officials, please plan to be at the annual members meeting. This will occur after the Unmanned Insights Autonomy presentation.
  • Robotica AI/ML Autonomy Summit Series, October, Virtual:
AI/ML technologies have become capabilities. These enable new business opportunities reducing time and effort to collect the data you need or implement the effect you require. We have postponed our planned March event to a virtual series of events in October.
  • Robotica UAS Summit, November, Virtual:
The 2020 UAS Summit will take place in November this year. The program is being prepared. If you would like to contribute, sponsor or help please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
  • We will be establishing collaboration working groups, to start with:
    • Utilities Working Group
How can drones/UxS help utilities keep you safe?
We will convene a working group to discuss the issues, and prepare a plan and checklist for utilites.
If you are interested in participating or sponsoring in the working group please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
    • Vertiport Working Group
You may have heard of the new air taxis/shuttles and advanced air mobility market beginning to emerge.
Vertiports or urban vertical takeoff/landing locations may be an enabler for this potentially large new market.
We will convene a working group to discuss the issues, and prepare a plan and checklist for the regional administration.
