Unmanned Insight: AI and Natural Language Processing for Certification of your Systems
Wednesday, October 30, 2019, 04:30pm - 06:30pm

AUVSI New England are proud to present an Unmanned Insight event that focuses on next generation capabilities to help certify your platform and avionic systems.

Leveraging novel concepts and looking to the future of NLP and A.I.
to change the game for embedded software test and certification
in order to meet with increasing demands,
time to market goals, and shrinking budgets

Automotive or Aircraft systems today are becoming increasingly complex; continuing to migrate away from analog/mechanical elements and into a digital space. As people surrender more control to these systems, and the autonomous function being offered, it requires more focus to be placed on the digital control applications and embedded software that guides their function. There is no room for error when life hangs in the balance, but the rigors imposed on the development and test of safety and mission critical embedded software are creating challenges across multiple industries. In particular, the legacy approach to the test and certification cannot keep up with the pace of commercialization while fitting in a shrinking budget envelope to yield desired program ROI. So, the approach to how we develop and test needs to be reconsidered. In looking at a new angle to achieve the required industry certification result, we will discuss processes and automation techniques that incorporate a Systems Approach, leverage Natural Language Processing, and consider Artificial Intelligence as an ally to decrease project timelines and software budgets; without ever sacrificing quality and the protection of the lives these products will serve.

Speakers:

  • Tom Williams and Matthew Tkac, CS Communications & Systems
Mechanisms to capture requirements, automatically create test scenarios and plans using next generation advanced technologies.

CS Communications & Systems Inc, are an advanced technology company located in East Hartford, CT along with its sister company CS Canada, located in Montreal, QC, make up CS Communication & Systems North America. CS is an advanced technologies company that has two decades of experience in the development, test, and certification of safety and mission critical embedded software. With a high level of expertise in ARP4754/4761, DO-178, ISO 26262, and various other guiding standards for functional safety in embedded applications, CS works with Aerospace & Defense and Automotive industries to support systems makers to overcome their challenges in these areas. With their organization containing more than 175 software engineers, CS's mission is the delivery of world-class services to safeguard the lives of people.

Speaker Biographies:

  • Tom Williams
Tom Williams has spent the last 10 years working with aircraft OEM's, ground vehicle manufacturers, and systems makers to improve on platform capabilities and ensure that the needs of the end user are being met; today and for the challenges to come. Focusing primarily on the military landscape, his foundation of safety stems from man-machine interface applications, multifunction displays, and lighting systems; with a concentration on the integration of night vision and covert capabilities that help our forces own the night. In supporting software, Tom works with CS customer-partners to continuously develop and improve efficiencies in their software development roadmap so that great products can be rapidly put in hands of the end users.
  • Matthew Tkac
Matthew Tkac is the President and Chief Engineer at CS Communication & Systems, Inc. He is also certified by the International Council of Systems Engineering (INCOSE) as an Expert Systems Engineering Professional. He directs engineering teams on software qualification and certification efforts in various industries. He has over 32 years of experience systems, hardware, and software qualification and certification and has presented topics of systems engineering, test strategies, test automation, testing coverage, requirements development and change management.
